Alyssondra Campaigne is a founding partner of Engage Strategies. Alys moved to Charleston from Washington, DC where her career spanned environmental and energy policy, management, and urbanism. Upon relocating to the south, Alys joined the I’On Group, a New Urban land use planning and development firm in Mount Pleasant, SC, as Vice President for Strategy and Marketing. She was responsible for branding and marketing initiatives, sales operations, and developing partnerships to advance sustainable building and urban redevelopment initiatives for the company and its portfolio of award-winning neighborhoods, I’On, Mixson, and Morris Square.

In Washington, Alys helped create and lead the External Affairs department of the Center for American Progress, a nationally influential think tank, worked as Legislative Director for the Natural Resources Defense Council, and as a Legislative Aide in the U.S. House and Senate. Alys managed corporate partnerships at the National Audubon Society, reviewed grants for the Nathan Cummings Foundation, and participated on a congressional political campaign. She has been actively engaged in policy debates on energy, environment, health, transportation and trade for 17 years. In addition to her policy work, she has been a spokesperson in national media including CNN,  The Washington Post and The New York Times. Alys has extensive experience building and leading advocacy campaigns and is adept at stakeholder development and coalition building to achieve organizational goals.

She holds holds degrees with honors from Wesleyan University and New York University.  Locally, she serves on the Board of Directors of the East Cooper Montessori Charter School and Charleston Moves (a cycling and pedestrian advocacy group), and as a volunteer Guardian Ad Litem. She is an avid yogi and a vegan with many years of hog farming under her belt.
